„ALEG siguranţa” (I choose safety): overcoming the trauma and gaining independence for victims of domestic violence and their children is the name of the project submitted by A.L.E.G to be selected for the Raiffeisen Grants Program. 220,000 lei is the total fund Raiffeisen is willing to share among the projects which will receive the largest number of votes from the public. the maximum budget of a project is of 22,000 lei.

“The project that we hope to implement with these funds will provide for one year three important services for 15 victims of domestic violence and their children:

1. Legal counseling and assistance throughout all the legal procedures which the victim chooses to take.

2. Support for the victim to become economically independent (professional reconversion, finding a job, financial education, support in setting up an income yielding activity)

3. Recovery after the trauma of violence through individual and group therapy.

Why is such a project more important than one for the environment or education? The World Health Organisation believes that domestic violence poses the highest health risk for women, higher than heart diseases or road accidents. In 2009 the General Police Inspectorate of Romanian registered 101 deaths caused by family violence. In the same year in the county of Sibiu 142 people confronted with domestic violence asked for a medical certificate but no conviction was registered based on law 217/2003 on the prevention and fight against family violence.

To vote A.L.E.G. in the Raiffeisen Grants Programme, you must go to https://raiffeisencomunitati.ro/program-de-granturi and create a user account with password by giving an email address. At that e-mail address you will receive a confirmation message and a link to click on for validation then you can long on to the Raiffeisen webpage. go to "Proiecte depuse de ONG-uri" and you will see a map of Romania with the counties. Click on Sibiu and select the project “ALEG siguranta” then press the vote button.You can read details about the project, including the budget if you click on "Detalii".
