Page 1 of 2 Children drawing At the end of May we organised an activity addressed to 2nd grade students from the O. Goga College, The School of Arts and the Special School No. 2 from Sibiu. Pupils were involved in activities related to the topic of non-discrimination with the purpose of promoting tolerant attitudes towards diversity among children.
The event consisted in interactive presentations on diversity: racial, cultural, religious, handicap. The fact that we live in a diversified world which we often find it hard to adapt to does not change things... The others exist! And they have the same rights as we do. We live together. Each one of us has rights and privileges given by life.
Children were involved in role plays through which they faced situations aimed at making them understand the effects of discrimination either as initiators or as victims. They understood that it is wrong to use labels to characterise people, to describe them or to approach them. We must see beyond these characteristics.
The session ended with a creative activity in which children had the chance to personalise T-shirts with messages conceived by them. The T-shirts were exhibited at the ASTRA Library and will also be included in a brochure.
We would like to thank all those who contributed to the fulfilment of this action.
