General objectives:

  • To understand the importance of choosing one's job and path in life
  • To learn how to look for a job and how to prepare for one
  • To understand that proper attitude and training may be the key to getting a job
  • To understand the role and importance of a responsible professional conduct
  • To know whom to go to if they experience problems at the workplace
  • To learn from the experience of others what it means to have a certain job
  • To learn from the competent people what the risks and benefits of working abroad are

Operational objectives: All participants must:

  • O1 - Understand how to type a CV and a Letter of Motivation and what mistakes to avoid;
  • O2 - Understand the importance of an interview and of the proper attitude at an interview and, by using the role play, to understand how the employer thinks
  • O3 - To learn what a proper professional behaviour is, what mistakes are unacceptable and how such mistakes can be sanctioned
  • O4 - To get acquainted to the way in which an employer will analyze the sanctioning of blamable actions by playing possible scenarios
  • O5 - To find out which are the advantages and disadvantages of the jobs of interest for them by taking part at the talks with our guests
  • O6 - To participate actively at the talks with our guests by trying to learn as much as possible about a certain job
  • O7 - To understand through practical examples that there is no perfect job, that each job comes with favourable and less favourable aspects and that it is best to find pleasure in what you do and to do your job as good as possible
  • O8 - To make a difference between myth and reality when it comes to working abroad
  • O9 - To understand what are the risks associated to contracts abroad and how to avoid them or whom to turn to for help
  • O10 - To find out what traffic in human beings is and how men can fall victims as often as women
  • O11 - To learn by example what it means to work abroad
  • O12 - To interact with our guests in order to find out answers to their own questions about this subject

Methods: Conversation, presentation, explanation, case study, role play, brainstorming

Materials: Case studies, movies, power-point presentation, photographs, information panel

Approximate duration: 3-4 hours                                                                                                                                                               Summer school

Icebreaker: True or false – each participant stands up and says two true things and one false thing about himself/herself - future plans. The others will try to guess which one is the false one.
