I choose to say things as they are.I choose to go beyond the classical stereotypes.I choose to hear the pain of others.I choose not to keep aside, but to get involved.While you are reading these lines, somewhere not far from you a woman is beaten by her partner. And not for the first time. But it may always be the last time. Maybe they drank alcohol, maybe they argued over money, maybe they are uneducated people. But maybe not. You would be surprised to find out that they may even be your respectable neighbours from the house next corner whom you would have never suspected of such a thing as they never seem to have problems when they are in public. Violence is born from one's will to dominate and from the conviction that the other is inferior. Violence is born from inequality. To stop violence, we have to change these convictions. People have the same value no matter if they are men or women. |
